Paneurhythmy is a system for reasonable exchange with the energies of Nature. It was created by Peter Dounov in the middle of the last century. It consists of the following elements – music, movement, lyrics, group performance and contact with nature. The reasonable combination of these elements causes the health balance in humans.
A main principle, embedded in Paneurhythmy is the assimilation of prana – a life-giving sun energy which in nature is in abundance. Simultaneously the energy is being evenly distributed in the human body in order to be achieved balanced health. This energy is still unknown for modern medicine. Thus, the lower mentioned conclusions are based on the information given by the author Peter Dounov.
Prana is the primary energy that fills the space and electricity and magnetism come from the prana spring the electricity and magnetism. It is present in nature and in all elements. The main source of this energy is the sun. Biggest quantities can be found in the morning and in springtime. According to Dr. Ignatov the water accumulates prana energy during phase transition from gas to liquid and from liquid to solid. At the opposite phase transformation the energy is released. Dewdrops and spring rains are typical example for source of prana. Breathing is the easiest way for one to assimilate the prana. The Eastern philosophies acknowledge the existence of this energy and they recommend various breathing techniques for handling it. A key moment for its assimilation is the conscious participation of mind and feelings. Only when one has directed one’s attention toward good, justice, reason, harmony, and freedom or generally speaking toward love, only then one can be charged with the life-giving power of prana.
Paneurhythmy consists of three parts: 28 exercises, Sunrays and Pentagram. The prana energy is assimilated during the whole time. Each exercise has its own specific purpose in this process.
We will discuss the dancing pattern only of the first part. The participants in pairs (men and women) are lined up in a circle and move in counter clockwise direction. There is no explanation why this particular direction. The men symbolize the creative principle, and the women – the building/constructing principle. We will assign them positive and negative charge, respectively. Both principles are displayed in men, as well in women.
From exercise 1 – “Awakening” to exercise 12 – “Jumping” the men are in the outer part of the circle and the women are in the inner part. The distance within pairs and between pairs is two stretched out arms. The auras of the participants are not touching, i.e. there is no exchange of energy among them. Every participant settles his/her own inner balance. Every pair forms a polarized unit - the positive charge on the outside and the negative – on the inside. The prana energy comes out of the circle. The participants and the site are being freed/cleansed from the accumulated negative energy.
In the 13th exercise – “Weaving”, the partners change places 7 times. At the moment of passing the auras overlap and form closed circuit between all participants. The two circles become one and then the energy distributes evenly.
From exercise 14 – “Think”, till the end of the first part of the Paneurhythmy, men and women have changed places and thus the polarity is the opposite – the men are on the inside and the women – on the outside. The prana energy moves toward the inside of the circle and its accumulation starts.
After exercise 22 – “Introduction”, till the 26th – “Early morning”, the partners in the pairs stand closer to each other – two stretched out elbows. The auras overlap and form a shared one. The polarization is increased, which leads to accumulation of more prana in the circle.
During the exercise before the last – “Breathing”, the already accumulated prana is assimilated. In the last exercise – “Providence”, prana energy is ‘poured’ all over the body. The prana must be kept within the circle. In order to do that the distance between the pairs must be maintained. As the number of the participants grows the accumulated prana energy increases proportionally to the increase of the surface of the circle.
Paneurhythmy movements are various and correspond to the words and music. They are most economic i.e. there are no excess movements. With the least effort the greatest result is achieved. There are powerful, soft and bright movements. In the powerful movements the straight lines predominate, in the soft ones – the curves, and the bright ones are a combination of straight lines and curves. The powerful ones work with electricity, the soft ones with magnetism, and the bright ones with both. Every figure corresponds to a talent. The radio can be tuned in different stations, as well as the human body, through its movement in the respective figure, develops corresponding talent and causes the stimulation of the brain regions responsible for it. That is why the effort for the correct performance of Paneurhythmy is very important. For example if the arms and legs are not straight, there is no connection with the forces of nature.
When dancing Paneurhythmy one has think, feel and move simultaneously. There has to be a conscious connection between movements, thoughts and feelings. Only then a serious health result can be achieved. This is a key moment and a distinguishing feature of Paneurhythmy if compared with other health methods. The magnitude of the result depends on the striving and capabilities of the dancer himself/herself. Paneurhythmy relies on the hidden talents in everyone and stimulates their development. It teaches him/her how to become a master of his/her own thoughts, feelings and body and shows him/her that he/she is part of Nature and his/hers behaviour is important for him/her as well as for Nature. It gives abundantly to those who know how to communicate with it.
The assimilation of prana and its distribution is the foundation of the health influence of Paneurhythmy. Till now there is no direct method for analysis and observation of this process. Almost 10 years of research in that field by “Institute for Research and Applying of Paneurhythmy” show a significant health improvement. For example there have been improvements of vertebral column disorders, lung diseases, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and neurological disorders. It is observed that Paneurhythmy also stimulates creativity, building of character and total increase in the capabilities of dancers.
